Great news! The foundation footing has been poured, and the foundational walls have been built.
A foundation footing is the barrier which prevents the foundational walls from slicing into the earth under the massive tonnage of a completed house. The footing, which is wider than the foundational walls, allows the weight of the structure to be dispersed across a larger area than the foundation alone could if built directly on the earth.
Certainly, an essential aspect of a house is the foundation footing, which also provides a level surface to set the foundation forms.
